Breaking Dawn Casting Scams

Hey Twilighters!! I know how excited you all are about casting for Breaking dawn, I get your questions by the Hundreds!! And although I have NO news about Breaking Dawn casting, it was for this very reason that I wanted to alert you guys about a current scam going on.

Hopeful twilighters everywhere are being trapped by a scam advertising casting for Breaking Dawn and it has gone far beyond the simple ads in the sidebar of webpages. Recently I received a question about casting because someone had the scam texted to their phone!! it is getting so bad that Lana Veenker, the local Oregon casting director of Twilight, is posting about it on her blog. Here is what Lana has to say and what tips she has about avoiding these scams:

ALL CURRENTLY ADVERTISED CASTING CALLS FOR BREAKING DAWN ARE FALSE.

Breaking Dawn is not yet in production. When it does go into production, professional casting directors will be hired to cast it.

Any website or company claiming that they can get you an audition for “Breaking Dawn” and then asks for ANY money whatsoever is not a real casting company.

Real casting directors don’t have websites where people are required to pay money to submit themselves for jobs.

They will never see the supposed audition tapes that the “casting scouts” on these websites are promising to forward on to them.

Real casting directors in the US are usually members of CSA

The CDs that Summit hires will work with professional talent agencies to hire the principal roles.

Real talent agencies do not charge their talent any money to be represented. They only make commissions when their actors book jobs.

Real agents represent established, professional actors who were either referred to them by other professionals or whom they have previously seen perform on stage or film.

They do not scout for talent in shopping malls, on Craigslist, in banner ads or in spam emails.

Real agents do not run acting or modeling schools, especially ones that charge thousands of dollars.

In the US, they are usually franchised by SAG

They will not seek to hire extras who live outside the shooting area. They are not interested in dealing with travel complications that could arise from hiring an out-of-town extra. And they certainly won’t hire someone who doesn’t already have working papers.

If you want to be an extra on a film, the harsh reality is that you need to live in the area where it is shooting and there’s no guarantee you’ll even be chosen to work.

These are some really great, very clear tips about avoiding the scams. The most common element I see over and over again in this post, casting agencies will NEVER charge money. If a company asks you to give them your credit card information in order for you to get a part in Breaking Dawn, it is a scam.

Hope that helps!! Got to keep my fellow twi-hards safe!!

My hat is off to you, I’m glad that you posted this, you can find out more about me from my website at http://www.randallrutledge.com as well as find me listed at the following weblink http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm3072057

I am the author of “From Movie City to Music City USA” (My Journey Through Showbiz And How It Works). My book not only touches on the subject of scamms in the industry but exposes some of them by name.

My book is about what I have done in the industry as well as the disappointments and rejections you’re sure to face as well as the cons and scams you should avoid and a whole lot more.

You can log onto http://www.amazon.com and do a search for my book From Movie City to Music City USA and read the reviews posted there of my book. I hate thieves with a passion and love nothing more than kicking them in the teeth and exposing them. Here is the text that is on the back cover of my book, again thanks for exposing another con, I would say con artist but I don’t believe that conning and ripping people off should be considered as an art form.

Text from the Back Cover of “From Movie City to Music City USA” (My Journey through Showbiz and how it Works)

If you’re interested in working in movies or making music and you were not privileged to be born the son or daughter of an already established named actor, writer, or musician that can open the door for you, then this book is your guide. Should you decide to take that leap from the normal to what everyone else considers the abnormal career choice the advice in this book can not only save you months and years of getting that first background artist job, but can also save you hundreds and thousands of dollars that you do not need to spend in pursuit of the entertainment industry as a career.

Consider this book a basic training manual, a no punches pulled guide to the obstacles that you are guaranteed to face while pursuing entertainment as the industry of your choice.
The main focus of this book is to educate those that wish to pursue show business regardless of one’s area of interest within the performing arts, whether one wants to be an actor, or writer, producer or director, songwriter or recording artist. They all have one ugly thing in common and that is the con-artist.

They will promise you the world just to empty the contents of your wallet and bank account. They will prey upon your dreams so that their gain is your nightmare.

Let this book be your shield for those that will use unscrupulous and unethical tactics against you. While pursuing the entertainment industry as a career, you will also be confronted with more obstacles, walls, and closed doors, that will be just as disappointing as getting ripped off. One thing you will find is that if you can’t handle rejection and do not have thick skin then the entertainment industry definitely isn’t for you. However if you can keep getting back on that horse no matter how many times it throws you then this book will help you keep dusting yourself off and staying in the saddle.

Consider me as your wagon master guiding you through dangerous territory, with all of its unpleasantness and uncertainties, although I can’t guarantee the success of your journey through show business, as can no one, I can at least point you in the right direction so you won’t be lured off the beaten path by the bandits that hide and wait for you.

There will be those that will tell you that you will not succeed, but in my opinion if your only goal is to work in movies and you only work as a movie extra then you have succeeded, as success itself has many levels and one has to start somewhere. Trust me some of today’s big names were also once told,” go home you’ll never make it” and now they have a net worth of over $600,000,000.00. You may never become the $600,000,000.00 man or woman but no matter, follow your heart do what you love and love what you do.

Again good job on exposing those thieves.

This is just for when the time comes but i would very much like to know how, when and where i can sign up to tryout for the part of Nahuel. i am talking about the half-human, half-vampire south american male in the fourth book. I am a 14 year old with all of the characteristics including the rich, dark brown but not too dark skin and have black hair and light brown eyes. Many of the people i know think i would be perfect for the part. Thanks for any help!

I was wondering if people outside the United States of America can audition for any of the parts, because i am also 14, a good actress, and even though im not a Native American I have been told that I look like i am. The ony problem is that I am a Bahamian and not an American. So, I was just curious, me and my best friend wanted to know so, um im just asking.

I’m Belgian too and I was really hoping to sign up to try out for the part of Maggie. I love acting but in Belgium there aren’t many opportunities for girls like me. They all love me but I can’t be an extra because I outshine the principal actor and I can’t be an principal actor because they are looking for someone regular, not a person with red hair.

Hi I would love to play in the moive as I said before because that book is amazing I would love to play as the amazon sister Zafrina because I am 5′6 and i have big hands and I Love that book. So it would be a great experience to witness and experience all in one. Im just waiting to see where they are going to have the auditions but I pray and wish that its in Wisconsin because we can’t afford to go to places like vancouver and louisiana and stuff. I think that if i was in the movie I wouldn’t hold back what I can do.I would show them that if I was in that movie that theres no holding back… but i really love the twilight series so much I think that Stephanie Meyer is one of the best writers there is because mye my mom her friends my friends and my sister and brothers ♥ the twilight series. Can’t wait to see when the auditions are..=)
