Stephenie Writes new Twilight Novella

Twilight Fans have bee begging for months for Stephenie Meyer to write a new Twilight novel and we keep hearing the same answer, that she is not writing anymore vampire novels at the moment. Well I guess she changed her mind because due out June 5th at 12:01am is Stephenie Meyer’s latest novel The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella!! Here is what we know so far about the book-

The new novella is told in the voice of the teenage Bree, a “newborn vampire” whom we meet on page 569 in Eclipse. Ten pages later, she’s dead.

“I started writing this a long time ago,” Meyer said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY. “It was when I was editing Eclipse. It was more of just an exercise so I could be clear about what was going on in the story.”
Bree is part of an army of newborn vampires created by Cullen family nemesis Victoria. Thirsty for revenge after the Cullens kill her vampire lover James, Victoria’s plan is to use her army to kill the Cullens and Bella.

“The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is pretty much contained in the last week of the newborns’ existence before the big fight (between the Cullens and the vampire army) in the meadow in Eclipse,” Meyer says. “It’s the last week before Bree dies.”

In the novella, Meyer says, Bree has been a vampire for about three months. No other details are being released.

How exciting right? Already the novel is getting some screen time as Stephenie tells us that parts of the book will be added as plot points to the Eclipse movie, due out June 30th.

But that is not even the best part! There is so much more! Stephenie tells it best on her site but I will post some of it hear for you to read:

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

Then I got the news: my “short story” was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

But here is the Best part:

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com/

How very Exciting!! Thank you Stephenie!!

Are you excited about reading this story? What questions do you hope she answers in the book? Come and share in the excitement with us!!

Quileute Indian Muesum Exhibit

The Quileute indians have been a part of our culture for years and Twilight has been helping put them back into the spotlight. As most Twilighters know the Quileutes Indians play an important part of the Twilight Series. The Wolf pack is completely made up of Quileute indians, including Jacob.

In truth, the Twilight Series gets a lot of things wrong in terms of the history of the tribe. Their stories are actually much different and very beautiful, definitely worth researching. Their is a new exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum from August 14, 2010–August 14, 2011.

Here is a description of the Exhibit from Barbara Brotherton, Curator of Native American Art:

The wolf is central to the cultural beliefs of the Quileute Native Peoples of coastal Washington, and wolf imagery is prominent in their art forms. According to oral traditions, the first Quileute were changed from wolves by the Transformer, Kwati; those ancestral beginnings figure significantly in the Quileute world view, even today.

For better or worse, the Quileute were thrust into a media firestorm with the publication of the Twilight books and the release of the first Twilight movies. Because the Quileute were not consulted, their “wolf origins” were misrepresented, and in the books and films they have been portrayed as sexed-up teen werewolves. This has precipitated unwanted visitors to their territory (in the thousands!).

This exhibition consisting of about 30 objects seeks to provide a public platform for the display and interpretation of art works that represent Quileute wolf mythology specifically, and also the larger sphere of their beliefs about spirituality and transformation. As was true for the Coast Salish prior to SAM’s 2008–09 exhibition S’abadeb, there have been no prior exhibitions of Quileute art. Although this exhibition will be modest, these carefully chosen works will reveal aspects of Quileute art history, style and meaning.

So if you are interested in learning more about the Quileute indians, check out this exhibit. More details can be found on the museum website.

Finally!! We have been talking for months about how we wanted to see more for Eclipse and wondering when we were going to get to see a trailer and Summit has heard our pleas! We know that the full official trailer will be released Friday March 12th during Rob’s new movie Remember Me, but Summit was nice enough to give us a sneak peek early.

The craziness all started yesterday when Twilight Fan sites everywhere started to whisper the word that Summit was going to release a sneak peek early. As the afternoon grew on we learned more information about the trailer, including the length of the sneak peek. Finally Summit got in on it and spread the word through their Twitter that they were indeed going to be releasing a sneak peek today, March 10th.  So after much rumors and a long wait, here it is, the 10 second sneak peek of Eclipse.

Interview with Kristen Prout

In Eclipse we are introduced to a whole new cast of characters, from werewolves to humans, and of course vampires. One of the new vampires we meet is Lucy. Lucy is one of the vampires that turned Jasper and is a great character with so much personality. In the movie, Lucy is played by Kristen Prout, a 19 year old actress who has been already making news as Abby in Elecktra and in the TV show Kyle XY. Kristen is a relatively new actress who we don’t know too much about, so iESB.net got the scoop for us and learned all they could about this soon to be hot new actress.

Kristen has been acting since she was ten and has been in love ever since. She is from Vancouver, Canada, which is conveniently where Eclipse was filmed. When asked about why she became an actress, Kristen stated “I was always just in it because I love storytelling and I love getting into the mind-set of different characters”. Which is good because Lucy is a such a character that you need to get in her mind set.

Not too much is known about the character Lucy, but even the little we do know is enough to intrigue us. Lucy is exactly how Kristen describes her ” Lucy appears to be an innocent little victim, and then she turns into something a lot more sinister.”

Of course, one of the best things about working on Twilight is working with the Twilight stars and Kristen got to work with Jackson Rathbone. iESb got the scoop on Jackson and what Kristen thought of him “We actually got along really well. We met in the make-up trailer, during the make-up testing, before filming even started. When I first got the part, they had to figure out whether they had to airbrush you, which in my case they didn’t really because I’m already pale enough. I met Jackson when he was getting his hair done. He was getting his hair dyed by the on-set stylist, and he was getting weird patterns shaved into it underneath, which was kind of funny.”

Kristen sounds like she knows what she is talking about and will do a great job of bringing Lucy to life and pleasing the Twilight fans. For more about Kristen Prout, check out this video interview from ClevverTv

Do you think Kristen will make a good Lucy? What do you hope she brings to the character? Share your thoughts below!!

No Muse for Eclipse Soundtrack?

March 3, 2010 by Jessica

The band Muse is just as much a part of the the Twilight as saga as vampires and werewolves. Their song “Super Massive Black Hole” set the perfect mood for a game of vampire baseball.  Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga, has been a big Muse fan for years and use to listen to their music as she wrote the Twilight books. Muse was Stephenie Meyer’s muse. So out of any band, we would expect Muse to be a part of the Eclipse soundtrack. In fact a few months ago the band even hinted at a song they had for the movie. However, now we are being told that Muse will not appear on the soundtrack.

It was only days after the release of New Moon that Muse started to talk about being a part of the Eclipse soundtrack, so it was a huge shock to even them to learn that they would not be on the soundtrack for the movie. According to Muse band member Howard, the order came from the Summit heads and not from the creative department involved in Eclipse. Especially considering the bands relationships with David Slade and Stephenie Meyer. David Slade created quite a few of the bands music videos and has been working with the guys for years. And as we mentioned before Stephenie Meyer has been a fan of Muse for years, in fact their is a picture of the Stephenie Meyer with the band on their official website.

It seems like the corporate heads at Summit in charge of Eclipse have been making quite a few changes lately and Muse is not the only people to get the shaft. Recently Summit also fired Eclipse director Art Jones and replaced him with Nancy Richardson, the original editor for Twilight directed by Catherine Hardwicke. It seems that Summit feels that David Slade’s version of Eclipse is “very good” but that it needs a ’strong edit” Hmm, what does that mean exactly? David Slade is known for his darker more edgy movies and has even been tweeting on production stating that he needed to add “more EDWARD”. Sounds like David Slade still has a lot of work left to do before release in June. I am very intrigued about the finished product and i can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

How do you feel about no Muse in Eclipse? Do you think having Nancy Richardson will make Eclipse better or worse then New Moon? Share your opinions with us!
