BAFTA Awards Tonight

Tonight on BBC we have a double whammy of Twilight stars at the awards show presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The lovely Rob Pattinson is scheduled to be a presenter and Kristen Stewart is nominated for the Orange Rising Star Award. There was rumors swirling and speculation about whether R-Pattz may be presenting the awards to Kristen. Well, not to spoil the ending for anyone, but my good friends at TwiFans.com posted this video of Kristen receiving the award and of her wonderfully clumsy acceptance speech. Check it out:

This award was voted on by the public, and with as big as the Twilight World is, it is not that suprising that Kristen won.

It is truly award show season and this is not the end of the road for Twilight stars. Kristen has already confirmed that she and Taylor would be presenting an award at the ceremony. Unfortunately Twilight is not nominated for anything, but Kristen and Taylor will still be there to represent.

Stay Tuned for more awards show news and all the latest gossip!

Leverage Camp Update

So, last week I told you all about an acting camp that was going on down here in Portland for the show Leverage. That camp was this past weekend and all we are hearing is glowing reports about how well it went! In fact even the Oregonian paper was reporting about the action!

Leverage Boot Camp was a weekend long event that held classes teaching people about acting and how to get parts. There were specific camps focusing on the different acting parts, there was a Thug camp, a kids camp, teen camp, a behind the scenes camp, and a beginner camp. Each of these camps featured classes that were specific to the group. These classes included lessons, improv, Q and A’s, and so much more. It was truly an experience for anyone interested in acting. The biggest advantage to it was that it was actual movie makers and actors teaching these classes, so they knew what they were talking about and when they gave direction, you listened.

The camp was not just about having fun acting though, it was chance to grow more actors in our community. Lana Veenker, local casting director and organizer for the camp expressed her concerns in this quote from the Oregonian

“My worst fear,” Veenker says, “is that one day we find we’ve used up all the good actors in Portland.”

So they spend the weekend training acting hopefuls, and pushing them to there limit. I loved this story from a camper, Joe Chouinard 34 from Forest Grove, OR

In a Saturday afternoon session, acting coach Robert Blanche worked on a brief scene with Chouinard playing a detective who’s visiting a psychic.

The line was, “I’m embarrassed to be here,” and Chouinard sounded self-conscious saying it. Blanche asked whether the line felt authentic to him.

“I am embarrassed to be here,” Chouinard said. He’s nervous getting up in front of crowds, he said. “I thought I was going to be a thug, so I could come in and mug somebody.”

The others in the room laughed.

“You can use that,” Blanche said. “Use the fact you’re embarrassed about being here.”

Afterward, Chouinard said, “I did not expect to be acting at all. I just thought you had to come and be big and mean-looking.” A competitive bodybuilder, Chouinard is plenty big. But his large brown eyes are gentle, not mean.

“I have no delusions of grandeur,” he said. “I’m not going to replace Tim Hutton. But I could stand in the background, looking menacing.”

There are many more stories just like this one, but they all have the same conclusion, Leverage Boot Camp was more then successful, it was an experience they will never forget.

Kristen and Dakota Help Haiti

With the problems down in Haiti, everyone is banding together to do their part and extend help where ever they can. The stars have all got into action in various ways including the Hope for Haiti telethon and other charity events. Even down at the Sundance film Festival, charity events were going on. One of these money raising events is a snowboard that all the stars signed that is now up for sale online. The proceeds for this board go to the American Red Cross Haitian Relief Fund and it has been signed by SO many big stars, including Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart!

Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart were down at Sundance promoting their new movie The Runaways about the 70’s girl band featuring Joan Jett. Kristen had already participated in a auction that she and her team helped organize, they auctioned off a weekend at Sundance in the company of Kristen herself!

This snowboard is still up for grabs until February 23rd and so far it has only reached $550, which is a great deal for a board that is valued at $10,000. Would like a chance to take home this snowboard with signatures from not only Kristen and Dakota, but also Cheri Cherie, Khloe Kardashian, Mario Lopez, Stephanie Pratt, and so much more! If so, just go to CharityBuzz.com and place a minimum bid of $650, then keep your eyes on the auction and keep bidding! And just remember, the proceeds do go to help rebuild Haiti.

Leverage Boot Camp

Twilight isn’t the only fun that we have down here in Portland!! In fact lots of TV shows and movies are making their way to Oregon for filming. One of are biggest show is Leverage and it is one of my favorites!! Lana Veenker, one of the principal casting directors for Twilight, also casts this show and she is giving hopeful actors a chance to land key roles in this show, it is called Leverage Boot Camp, here are the details.

This weekend (Feb. 6th-7th) Lana Veenker’s is hosting Leverage Boot Camp through her educational division, Tools 4 Actors. Basically casting is going on for season 3 and many of the actors who played thugs and stuntmen are no longer eligible for roles in the show. So Lana and TNT have several different camps that are workshops that train potential actors on how to be stuntmen and thugs. Here are the camps:

*Thug Camp - 12 hours of instruction, plus 2 lunchtime Q&As

*Beginner Camp - 10 hours of instruction, plus 2 lunchtime Q&As ( + optional stunt class)

*Kid Camp - 6 hours of instruction, plus 1 lunchtime Q&A ( + optional parent class)

*Teen Camp - 6 hours of instruction, plus 1 lunchtime Q&A ( + optional parent class)

*Behind-the-Scenes Camp - 2 hours of instruction, plus 1 lunchtime Q&A ( + optional stunt class and/or additional lunchtime Q&A)

This is just a workshop to teach the skills and not an audition so participating does not guarantee a spot on the show, but it is still an amazing opportunity! for more information go to Lana’s Website or to the Boot Camp registration page. Good Luck!

Are you going to go to boot camp? Share the experience with us!!

The devastation that hit Haiti has touched the lives and hearts of all of us and we search desperately for any thing we can do to help.  The Twilight cast has also felt the pressure to help out and are using there well-deserved popularity to do their part.

Twitter pages have been buzzing all over about Haiti and the Twilight cast is using their Twitter accounts to reach out. Here are some of their Tweets:

  • Alex Meraz: My prayers go to the lives lost in haiti and for those clinging for help I’m researching websites so i can donate…
  • Ashley Greene: Text “Haiti” to 90999 to send $10 to the Red Cross for their relief fund. Please do whatever you can in this time of crisis.
  • Boo Boo Stewart: Say prayers for everyone in Haiti, special one goes out to Jerome, a fans missing uncle…..
  • Charlie Bewley: YOUTUBEVideo from Haiti earthquake floods YouTube, including citizen reports, and how you can help: http://bit.ly/7nVTFF
  • Chaske Spencer: you can help HAITI in the wake of the horrible earthquake..go to www.yele.org or contribute $5.00 by texting “yele” to 501501
  • Daniel Cudmore: Just sent a donation to the relief efforts in Haiti via txt, I urge everyone who can to donate!
  • Gil Birmingham: Donations 2 help Haiti earthquake victims can be made through the Red Cross: http://bit.ly/4u9pk
  • Justin Chon: and If you can spare it..text “HAITI” to 90999 and a donation of $10 to American Red Cross will automatically be added to your phone bill
  • Peter Facinelli: You can help at any level. Text Yele to 501501 to contribute $5 2 the relief efforts for Haiti. $5 will b added 2 ur phone bill 4 payment.
  • Tinsel Korey: Thx guys for the 90999 red cross txting donation. Also going to look into doctorswithoutborders.org

But that is not all, they are also taking action, Rachelle Levefre recently posted pictures of herself donating blood to the Red Cross (which is slightly ironic given that she plays nomadic Vampire Victoria)

But I am wondering if maybe Rob’s contribution will make the most amount of money for Haiti. During the Golden Globes we learned that George Clooney was doing his own Hope for Haiti telethon to raise money for Haiti. Twilight Examiner reported that Rob has signed on to be a host for the London branch of the event, which is scheduled to air this Friday. I am sure Rob will have plenty of Twilighters who are eager to help rebuild Haiti. The show will air across all MTV channels 8-10 p.m. ET on Friday January 22nd.

Wow, life has been crazy!! Sorry it has taken me so long to reply!! By now I would hope that all of you have seen New Moon at least once (I have seen it 3 times lol) But the best time I have seen it so far was definitely at our Experience New Moon VIP party!! That was a blast!! There were so many of you and it was so great to spend the night with you and hear all of your great fan stories!!

For those who were unable to come let me tell you what you missed!! Thursday night we had the hottest party! The night started with a panel with Lana Veenker and other members of the Twilight cast. We had: Catherine Grimme- Young Bella
Ayanna Berkshire- Cora (Carver cafe waitress)
Trish Egan- she played the high school office administrator
Gavin Bristol- he played one of the frat boys that attack Bella in the alley.
Seth McGrath- Another frat boy, he was the funniest

They were all so great, so down to earth, and they were fun to talk to!! Catherine Grimme was my favorite, she was so cute and sweet, I could have talked to her all day!!

After the Panel we had story telling with Anita Wheeler, A Quileute story teller who is amazing!! Seriously I could listen to her for hours.  I can’t forget the cupcakes either!! A local cupcake maker, JJ cakes, donated the cupcakes for the event and they were Amazing!! All of our guests couldn’t stop talking about them!!

Of course we watched New Moon as well, we had a viewing at 12:01 am and it was SO worth the wait lol!, Although it could be that it was because it was the first time I sat down all evening lol. The party was so much fun and everyone had a great time!! I had so much fun meeting everyone and I hope you come back for Experience Eclipse!!

Did you go to Experience New Moon? Share your stories with us!! Also we were stupid and didn’t bring a camera, so if you have any pictures you want to share please send them to me at jessica@twilightblogs.com

New Moon premiere’s in 12 days and we are crazy busy planning our New Moon Event down here in St. Helen’s Oregon. For those you who don’t know, we are in the process of planning a 4 day New Moon premiere event called Experience New Moon. We are planning this event in St. Helen’s, the very location for the filming of some of the most popular scenes from twilight. it is going to be a huge event including a panel with local casting director Lana Veenker, a concert, a Volutri ball, tours of the town, and so much more!! It is an event you will not want to miss!! Check it out at ExperienceNewMoon.com

But you know, events don’t plan themselves and it takes teams of people to make them work, that is why we are looking for volunteers to help us with this event. There are a lot of perks to being a volunteer, including getting into events for free. If you are interested in volunteering and you are willing to work hard and have fun them email me at jessica@twilightblogs.com to let me know you are interested.

I am sure you are all curious about the new banner on our site talking about Experience New Moon. With the premiere of New Moon, we thought we should take it all back to where it started. That’s why we are hosting our own event down here in St. Helens, the location for many of the key scenes in Twilight. Remember the dress shop? Bella and Edwards first date? How about Bella’s house? All of these scenes can be found right here in St. Helens, and we are offering you a chance to come back and experience it all while you Experience New Moon.
The event is going to be a weekend filled with fun. It starts November 19th and goes until the 22nd and the whole weekend is jam packed. We are going to have Tours of the locations, vendors, concerts, and so much more. The Main event is the VIP party where not only do you get to see New Moon, but you get to experience it with Quileute story teller Anita Wheeler. If that wasn’t enough we also are having a Q&A panel with Lana Veenker and some of the cast from Twilight. You will have a chance to ask them what it was like to make the movie and how to be an actor yourself.
That’s not all though, the whole weekend is filled with events, including a concert with The Twilight Music Girls!! We are so excited and we can’t wait to share it all with you!! So head down to ExperienceNewMoon.com and get your passes now!!
