Jacksons Gonna Be a Daddy!!

Yay Jackson!! Babies are awesome! I should know, I have two of my own so I always get excited when new babies are a comin’!

Twilight star Jackson Rathbone has been a very busy man over the last few years, juggling his rising career as an actor, as well as working to establish himself as a musician with his band 100 Monkeys. It turns out that the 27-year-old is going to be even busier in the coming months when he and burlesque dancer girlfriend Sheila Hafsadi welcome a child into the world.

That’s right, Jackson Rathbone is going to be a dad. According to Us Weekly, the couple will become first-time parents later this year. Rathbone’s rep told the magazine that he and Hafsadi are “thrilled and excited to be expecting their first child.”

Rathbone and Hafsadi, 24, who is said to be five months pregnant, reportedly met at one of his band’s performances and have already been busy preparing for the baby. A source told the magazine that the actor/musician recently traded in not one, but two of his vehicles for a hybrid SUV in order to have more room for a growing family.

In addition to the anticipation and excitement that surrounds the arrival of a new baby, Rathbone will have a jam-packed 2012 with the release of “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ in November, along with the potential release of several diverse film projects: “Cowgirls ‘N Angels,” “Zombie Hamlet,” the dramedy musical “DaZe: Vol. Too – NonSeNse” and “Live At The Foxes Den.”

Speaking of what fans still have to look forward to from his character Jasper Cullen in “Breaking Dawn – Part 2,” Rathbone told MTV News there is a particularly poignant moment in the final film that he can’t wait to see on the big screen.

“There’s a very fulfilling moment for myself as an actor and as a fan of the books and of the film series that you get to see, in the end, really how much these characters love one another and how much they function as a family,” Rathbone said of the franchise’s final film. “Even though they are kind of an odd family of vampires. Vegetarian vampires, at that. They’re an odd bunch.”

Jackson Rathbone & His Monkey Mates

Touring in Scotland with his band 100 Monkeys, Twilight star Jackson Rathbone has talked about how he’d perform with other members of the cast when the movies were being made.

Rathbone stars as Jasper Hale in the hugely successful series, but as well as being an actor he performs with group 100 Monkeys, who played to a packed King Tuts audience in Glasgow on Tuesday night.

As a guitarist and singer he shares a skill set with fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson, who famously had a song on the first movie’s soundtrack.

So have Jackson and Rob performed together when off the set?

Backstage before the Scottish show, Jackson told us: “Yeah, we’ve jammed with several other of the cast of Twilight.

“They’re all just amazing musicians and artists in their own right, so they’re fun to play with.”

So will he miss Twilight now that it’s gone? He explained: “I miss my friends that I’ve made over the years with that project, but it’s nice to say goodbye and to move on to new things.

“It was a wonderful, rewarding experience for me as an entertainer.”

Not that the multitalented actor and musician minds have a bit more free time on his hands.

Jackson explained: “There’s more time in the day nowadays to do a lot of things. After our two-month US tour I didn’t do anything but stay in bed for a week.

“I was just so exhausted from everything over the past five years. I had one week off, and I was like ‘Oh, wow,’ I’m just going to stay in bed and watch movies.”

When we mentioned that we’d talked to Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner last month about Breaking Dawn but not him, he joked: “I was probably drinking some Scotch, though, so thinking of y’all…”

As with every year the big three were seen on many a magazine cover this year, but it was Kristen Stewart, particularly, who tore it up this year, hitting the covers of Vogue, W, Glamour, Glamour UK, and more. The one which really seemed to stand out, for Kristen Stewart fans and the world at large, was her GQ UKcover. Wowza!

She also appeared in the music video for Marcus Foster’s “I Was Broken,” at the MET Gala with the designers from Proenza Schouler, and at Glamour‘s Women of the Year Awards. Not to mention, she was a part of the many, many promotional appearances discussed below, and she’s been filming a big new action movie to boot.

The year started out really well in the Awards Show department for Twilight, with the cast flying in from the set of Breaking Dawn to collect some People’s Choice Awards and say hello to us all after a long drought without seeing them. Then, in February, we all felt a little duped by the supposed “Oscars surprise” which fell pretty short of the producers’ promise. All was well, though, since the Twilight Saga escaped virtually unscathed by the Razzie Awards once again, and once the summer began to roll around, it was MTV Movie Awards time . . . which is always a good time for Twilight fans. The cast cleaned up, and the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was released. The Teen Choice Awards also recognized Twilight with five awards for the cast, but the big event, as usual, was the Movie Awards, with People’s Choice coming in a close second (if for no other reason than a memory of Queen Latifah embarrassing the mess out of Taylor Lautner).

Crossing Over into New Realms

There were some great new projects involving the Twilight cast to make a splash this year. Robert Pattinson’s Water For Elephants hit theaters in the spring, and he filmed Cosmopolis this summer. Taylor Lautner’s Abduction came along in the fall, and he’s been attached to a new Gus Van Sant indie. Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart picked up a great new gig as “Snow White” for Snow White And The Huntsman, and the first trailer for that film blew us all away. Anna Kendrick teamed up with Eclipse star Bryce Dallas Howard for the buzzy fall film 50/50, and Jamie Campbell Bower and Eclipse star Xavier Samuel were inAnonymous. Howard also portrayed the witchy “Hilly Holbrook” in the successful film translation of The Help, and Bower was picked for the ultra-coveted leading male role in The Mortal Instruments. Finally, Jackson Rathbone’s Girlfriend movie, which prides itself on pioneering the industry with the first leading actor to have Down Syndrome, picked up some speed after winning the Gotham Audience Award.

One big achievement for the Twilight Saga‘s leading trio was being immortalized at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. They join an elite few who’ve received this honor, and they’ve thusly become a part of Hollywood history forever. In their various TV appearances surrounding the event, it was clear that they had a hard time believing the fortune of that honor themselves.

Twilight Humor

You’ve gotta love it when the Twilight cast participates in a funny or two. This year, there were many. Both Michael Sheen and Elizabeth Reaser did hilariously dramatic readings of Twilight fanfiction, for starters. Whoever thought of getting them to do that was sheer genius. Then, Taylor Lautner did a Funny Or Die sketch on the woes of football fans fearing the perpetual lock out earlier this year. Finally, Peter Facinelli and Nikki Reed teamed up for a ”Wondertwins” sketch series that had us simultaneously laughing and cringing.

As with every year, there were tons of Twilight cast appearances in 2011, be they international press tour stops, Comic-Con panels (where some of the cast, by the way, came out to serve breakfast to fans who camped out for the event), the Twilight convention stop in L.A., awards shows, or the Breaking Dawn premieres themselves. It’s always nice to see their smiling faces, right?

With Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer accomplished a first – working as a film producer. It wasn’t her only turn doing that this year, though, as she worked on Austenland, the book-to-film adaptation of her friend Shannon Hale’s novel of the same name. She also appeared on-screen, again, in Breaking Dawn, and the film adaptation of her sci-fi novel The Host gained a few new castmates thanks in part to her work in promoting the film at Cannes. Needless to say, she’s not just the Twilight Saga‘s author anymore. Stephenie Meyer’s gone Hollywood!

Twilight Music Makes a Splash Again

Between the release of Robert Pattinson’s “Songs from a Room,” Jackson Rathbone taking his 100 Monkeys across the globe, Billy Burke releasing his second music video, and, of course, Breaking Dawn – Part 1‘s soundtrack fitting so nicely with the film, 2011 was another big year in Twilight-related music.

One nice thing about the relationships developed within the Twilight Saga is the support they’ve shown eachother when given the opportunity. First, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner showed up to support the premiere of New Moon director Chris Weitz’s A Better Life this summer, and Weitz reciprocated by turning up for Taylor Lautner’s Abduction premiere in the fall. Weitz wasn’t the only one to come along for that – director Bill Condon and co-star Booboo Stewart were there as well. Ashley Greene also had some Breaking Dawn co-star support from Julia Jones and Casey LaBow at the premiere for her filmSkateland.

Of course, inarguably the biggest event of 2011 in Twilight-land was the production and release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Just over a year ago, the filming process began on it, and already it’s here and tearing up the box office. We all watched as glimpses trickled in from here and there during production, but most of the surprises and best moments of the movie were saved for the big screen. Fan reactions to this installment were overwhelmingly positive, and we were all left thirsty for the final film, which debuts next November 16, 2012.

Fender Hosts 100 Monkeys Listening Party!

“Raucous, perpetually instrument-swapping L.A. funk-rock quintet 100 Monkeys previews its new album, Liquid Zoo at a private listening party on the evening of Sunday, June 19, at the Fender Artist Showroom in Burbank, Calif., followed by a live concert. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. PST, Fender will webcast the listening party and the concert in a special streaming event that will also include the debut for the new music video for “Wandering Mind.”

The Fender Stratocaster® guitar featured in the music video “Wandering Mind,” which has been splattered with paint, has been autographed by the band. The 100 Monkeys signed guitar will be auctioned by The Fender Music Foundation to raise money to support music education.

Described as producing “tribal sounds with vocals recalling Jim Morrison’s baritone croon” by Rolling Stone and “Iggy Pop with the Raconteurs” by MTV.com, 100 Monkeys has earned a reputation for their wild stage act during which the band is known to make up songs on the spot. The quintet comprises multi-instrumentalists who are all multi-faceted artists, actors and producers, including Jackson Rathbone (The Last Airbender, Twilight), Ben Graupner (Trapped in the 5150, Devolved), Jerad Anderson (Wayne/Lauren Film Company), Lawrence Abrams (Willie Bobo, Bob Hope U.S.O. tour, the Artist Consortium) and Ben Johnson (the Stevedores, producer of Spencer Bell’s “Brain”).

Jackson Rathbone Leaves Vancouver!

Jackson Rathbone Tweeted yesterday that Jasperis no more! I’ve heard that filming is complete so many times that it’s kinda anti-climactic at this point, but it appears to be finished for Jackson at least. He’s seen here walking through the airport with his ukulele so he must be done!!!

There was filming going on in the woods of Capilano Park this week which you might remember is the same place they filmed the break up scene in Breaking Dawn. Thanks to Newsflic, there is a video as well. You can watch it HERE.

This is about the point in the week where it turned into“Taylor Lautner Week!”

Taylor appeared on MTV First on Wednesday night and as they did with Rob, they counted down Taylor’s Top 5 MTV moments until the night of the actual interview where Taylor sat down with Josh Horowitz and premiered the trailer for his new film Abduction.

I’m not one to just assume that because a member of the Twilight cast made a movie that that means it’s good because that has not always been the case but this movie looks like it might be pretty good so I’m looking forward to seeing it. Towards the end of the week there was news that Robert Pattinson would be auctioning off a shirt of his for Japan relief!

On Thursday Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Jackson Rathbone, were spotted at Vancouver International Airport, heading back to the states after completeing their parts for the Twilight Saga! No more Alice, Jasper or Emmett….NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! It makes me sad but on a lighter note, groovy boots Ashley!!!

Nikki Reed and Anna Kendrick were spotted at Vancouver Airport as well after their part in filming was complete!

This is going up a little early this weekend because I’m going to the Twilight Convention in Arlington! I hope to see some of you there! I’ll be back on Monday….with pictures!!!

Jackson Rathbone Interview!

Jackson Rathbone did a phone interview with Mike and Mindy in the Morning. He talked about recent filming and how he thinks Breaking Dawn will be the best in the Twilight Saga!

“It’s been a fun shoot so far. We’re about halfway through the process . . . It was a lovely time being in Baton Rouge.” He explained that it is nice to film in Baton Rouge because he was able to get his aunt to make cook him local favorite home cooked meals.

He admitted that he did some of the stunts in Breaking Dawn with a cracked rib! He didn’t break it on set, but when he was carrying 100 Monkey’s gear into the studio. Jackson said he didn’t mention it to anyone on set for fear that they wouldn’t let him do his own stunts. He went on to tell us how much he loves the work that Melissa Rosenberg and Bill Condon have done and are continuing to do to make the movie the best.

“I think each film just keeps getting better and better, you know, with the different slate of directors we’ve had, and now we have the amazing Bill Condon, and he’s been a dream to work with. So, I think this is going to be the best one,” he said. “There’s some very exciting moments in the film that Melissa Rosenbergour amazing screenwriter and Bill Condon, our wonderful director, kind of put together to kind of showcase the highlights of this film and to bring the book to life.”

Jackson Rathbone at the 2011 Fender Showcase!

Fender had a busy day at their 2011 Fender Showcase with Keither Urban, Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus, Zach Myers from Shinedown and our own Jackson Rathbone from 100 Monkeys and The Twilight Saga, or course!

“Although known worldwide for his role as Jasper on the uber popular film Twilight, Jackson Rathbone is also in a band called 100 Monkeys. The actor/musician check out our Fender bass amps and then passed some time in the Fender Acoustics booth, laying down a few licks on Banjo.”
