*Best Twilight Cast Moments in 2011*

Each December, it’s fun to look back at some of the year’s most memorable moments in Twilight. Then, around New Year’s, we can start to look forward to what’s to come for Twilight fans.

This year, there were plenty of things worth remembering about the Twilight Saga and the personalities involved, so here’s a look back at the eleven most stand-out aspects of 2011 in the world of Twilight.

As with every year the big three were seen on many a magazine cover this year, but it was Kristen Stewart, particularly, who tore it up this year, hitting the covers of VogueWGlamourGlamour UK, and more. The one which really seemed to stand out, for Kristen Stewart fans and the world at large, was her GQ UKcover. Wowza!

She also appeared in the music video for Marcus Foster’s “I Was Broken,” at the MET Gala with the designers from Proenza Schouler, and at Glamour‘s Women of the Year Awards. Not to mention, she was a part of the many, many promotional appearances discussed below, and she’s been filming a big new action movie to boot.

The year started out really well in the Awards Show department for Twilight, with the cast flying in from the set of Breaking Dawn to collect some People’s Choice Awards and say hello to us all after a long drought without seeing them. Then, in February, we all felt a little duped by the supposed “Oscars surprise” which fell pretty short of the producers’ promise. All was well, though, since the Twilight Saga escaped virtually unscathed by the Razzie Awards once again, and once the summer began to roll around, it was MTV Movie Awards time . . . which is always a good time for Twilight fans. The cast cleaned up, and the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was released. The Teen Choice Awards also recognized Twilight with five awards for the cast, but the big event, as usual, was the Movie Awards, with People’s Choice coming in a close second (if for no other reason than a memory of Queen Latifah embarrassing the mess out of Taylor Lautner).

There were some great new projects involving the Twilight cast to make a splash this year. Robert Pattinson’s Water For Elephants hit theaters in the spring, and he filmed Cosmopolis this summer. Taylor Lautner’s Abduction came along in the fall, and he’s been attached to a new Gus Van Sant indie. Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart picked up a great new gig as “Snow White” for Snow White And The Huntsman, and the first trailer for that film blew us all away. Anna Kendrick teamed up with Eclipse star Bryce Dallas Howard for the buzzy fall film 50/50, and Jamie Campbell Bower and Eclipse star Xavier Samuel were inAnonymous. Howard also portrayed the witchy “Hilly Holbrook” in the successful film translation of The Help, and Bower was picked for the ultra-coveted leading male role in The Mortal Instruments. Finally, Jackson Rathbone’s Girlfriend movie, which prides itself on pioneering the industry with the first leading actor to have Down Syndrome, picked up some speed after winning the Gotham Audience Award.

One big achievement for the Twilight Saga‘s leading trio was being immortalized at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. They join an elite few who’ve received this honor, and they’ve thusly become a part of Hollywood history forever. In their various TV appearances surrounding the event, it was clear that they had a hard time believing the fortune of that honor themselves.

Twilight Humor

You’ve gotta love it when the Twilight cast participates in a funny or two. This year, there were many. Both Michael Sheen and Elizabeth Reaser did hilariously dramatic readings of Twilight fanfiction, for starters. Whoever thought of getting them to do that was sheer genius. Then, Taylor Lautner did a Funny Or Die sketch on the woes of football fans fearing the perpetual lock out earlier this year. Finally, Peter Facinelli and Nikki Reed teamed up for a ”Wondertwins” sketch series that had us simultaneously laughing and cringing.

Appearances Far and Wide

As with every year, there were tons of Twilight cast appearances in 2011, be they international press tour stops, Comic-Con panels (where some of the cast, by the way, came out to serve breakfast to fans who camped out for the event), the Twilight convention stop in L.A., awards shows, or the Breaking Dawn premieres themselves. It’s always nice to see their smiling faces, right?

With Breaking Dawn, Stephenie Meyer accomplished a first – working as a film producer. It wasn’t her only turn doing that this year, though, as she worked on Austenland, the book-to-film adaptation of her friend Shannon Hale’s novel of the same name. She also appeared on-screen, again, in Breaking Dawn, and the film adaptation of her sci-fi novel The Host gained a few new castmates thanks in part to her work in promoting the film at Cannes. Needless to say, she’s not just the Twilight Saga‘s author anymore. Stephenie Meyer’s gone Hollywood!

Between the release of Robert Pattinson’s “Songs from a Room,” Jackson Rathbone taking his 100 Monkeys across the globe, Billy Burke releasing his second music video, and, of course, Breaking Dawn – Part 1‘s soundtrack fitting so nicely with the film, 2011 was another big year in Twilight-related music.

Twilight stars and filmmakers support eachother

One nice thing about the relationships developed within the Twilight Saga is the support they’ve shown eachother when given the opportunity. First, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner showed up to support the premiere of New Moon director Chris Weitz’s A Better Life this summer, and Weitz reciprocated by turning up for Taylor Lautner’s Abduction premiere in the fall. Weitz wasn’t the only one to come along for that – director Bill Condon and co-star Booboo Stewart were there as well. Ashley Greene also had some Breaking Dawn co-star support from Julia Jones and Casey LaBow at the premiere for her filmSkateland.

Of course, inarguably the biggest event of 2011 in Twilight-land was the production and release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. Just over a year ago, the filming process began on it, and already it’s here and tearing up the box office. We all watched as glimpses trickled in from here and there during production, but most of the surprises and best moments of the movie were saved for the big screen. Fan reactions to this installment were overwhelmingly positive, and we were all left thirsty for the final film, which debuts next November 16, 2012.

Fun Interview with Taylor…..

Taylor

Taylor

Interview at Beverly Hills hotel—-Post media news/ Vancouver Sun

As usual, the always affable Lautner bubbles with enthusiasm during an interview at a Beverly Hills hotel just before the release of Part 1.

Q: What music are you listening to?

A: This one actually stresses me out. I am so all over the place with my music tastes that it is ridiculous.

Q: How so?

A: I’ll find myself listening to weird things like hardcore techno music, and then I’ll be listening to mainstream hip-hop. I’m so crazy with my music tastes. I’ll listen to a song, I’ll become obsessed with it, and then I’m onto the next one.

Q: Okay, so what’s up with Jacob in Breaking Dawn – Part I?

A: I was really excited about this one because, I mean, Jacob becomes a man, and he has to make a lot of decisions. He’s torn between his two families.

Q: What was it like working with director Bill Condon for the first time?

A: I trusted him completely. It was really special, and now seeing the movie, I’m really happy. . . . It’s just very exciting to see (Jacob) in a completely different light than before.

Q: And then there is the imprinting scene with Bella’s baby, Renesmee. What’s that about?

A: That was tough because what is imprinting? What do you look like when you imprint? Those were all the questions going through my head. Luckily, we had Stephenie (Meyer) on set the entire time, and trust me, I asked her a million times.

Q: As the Twilight series comes to a close, what won’t you miss?

A: Not wearing clothes. I love Vancouver, but we always have to film when it’s cold and rainy and gross. The sun comes out and we have to stop filming.

Q: Other than that, has the Twilight fame been all positive for you?

A: I honestly can’t even think of complaints or anything that I wouldn’t want to do because of everything that it has given me. It’s just absolutely unreal, and I didn’t see it coming at all. None of us did.

Q: Has the bond with Pattinson and Stewart been helpful?

A: It’s really unbelievable how much we’ve all gotten along. I can’t imagine filming this franchise if we didn’t. It would be a complete nightmare if we didn’t.

Q: Twi-hards are obsessively devoted. What has been your craziest encounter?

A: The craziest fan encounter? It’s tough to choose just one, and I don’t like using the word crazy. I like using the word passionate.

Q: What was your most passionate encounter?

A: I’ve had a few girls that tattooed a picture of my signature to their arm. I mean that blows my mind. Something new happens every single day and it continues to blow my mind.

Q: Will you take a part of Jacob with you into your future?

A: Absolutely. After playing the same character for five movies and four years, you grow so close to him. You start putting yourself into Jacob, and you start putting Jacob into you.

Q: So you still like him?

A: I love Jacob. There are many things that I look up to Jacob for. Jacob is one of the most loyal people, one of the most persistent people. He has amazing qualities. I hope that I can learn from him.

Q: Do you feel a need to continue your momentum by making lots of films after Twilight?

A: It’s definitely not just a matter of finding something that keeps your face out there. I mean, I want everything to feel special to me, and I’m very specific about that.

Q: Are you concerned about being typecast?

A: We’ve all said this to each other because we all deal with it. It would almost be a compliment to be typecast because that’s our jobs.

The 19-year-old Lautner continues to be reliable and sensible as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 unfolds in a very dramatic way at the box office.

The first part of Breaking Dawn (based on Stephenie Myer’s book) has raked in more than $489 million U. S. worldwide after two weeks in theatres. Part 2, already filmed and set for release in November of 2012, is on track to do even better.

So far, Lautner seems to be taking the celebrated success of the franchise in stride, even as he makes the transition into adulthood and a career without Twilight.

The Host Gets a Release Date!

Stephenie Meyer’s next book to become a major motion picture finally has a release date!  The adaptation of The Host is set to be released on March 29, 2013!

From Deadline Hollywood:

Los Angeles, CA, June 27, 2011 – Open Road Films has acquired U.S. distribution rights to “The Host,” the big screen adaptation of Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling novel. As previously announced, “The Host” will be directed by Andrew Niccol (“Gattaca”), who also wrote the screenplay, and will star Saoirse Ronan (“Hanna,” “The Lovely Bones,” “Atonement”). Open Road Films has set a March 29, 2013 release date (Easter weekend) for “The Host.”

“The Host” producers are Nick Wechsler, Chockstone Pictures’ Paula Mae Schwartz and Steve Schwartz, and Stephenie Meyer. Marc Butan, Jim Siebel, and Bill Johnson of Inferno Entertainment, which is handling international sales, are executive producers. Claudia Bluemhuber of Silver Reel, which is providing mezzanine financing, is also an executive producer. Roger Schwartz and Lizzy Bradford are co-producers.

Principal photography is scheduled to being in February 2012 in Louisiana and New Mexico, in anticipation of the wide release on March 29, 2013.

“The Host” is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie, one of the few remaining “wild” humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading “soul” who has been given Melanie’s body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn’t expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

The Host, published in 2008, was Stephenie Meyer’s highly anticipated follow-up to the wildly popular and acclaimed Twilight series. The book was #1 on The New York Times Bestseller List for 26 weeks. The “Twilight” film franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer’s beloved and best-selling novels, has grossed over $1.4 billion in worldwide box office ticket sales to date.

Regarding Open Road Films, Stephenie Meyer’s stated, “I’m thrilled to be adding another fantastic partner to an already amazing group. Everyone involved has so much passion for the project. It really is a dream team.”

“We are privileged to partner with Stephenie Meyer and the rest of the filmmaking team for the release of ‘The Host,” added Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films. “Nick Wechsler is a terrific producer and a long time friend and we are honored to be working with Nick and Stephenie – and the wonderful minds of Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz – to bring this epic story of hope to the big screen.”

Producers Nick Wechsler, Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz commented, “We are excited about the passion that Tom Ortenberg and Open Road Films has shown for ‘The Host,’ and we think this is a great opportunity to be partnered with AMC and Regal at the beginning of their new joint venture.”

The deal was negotiated on behalf of Open Road Films by Ortenberg, General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Operations and Business Affairs, Elliott Kleinberg, and Senior Vice President of Acquistions Ben Cotner. Rena Ronson of UTA’s Independent Film Group and David Fox of Myman Greenspan Fineman Fox Light LLP, along with Philip Strina of Inferno, negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers.

I’m just happy that there will be interesting life after Twilight! I had my concerns…..

Stephenie Meyer Makes Forbes “10 Most Powerful Women Authors!”

Stephenie Meyer made Forbes’ ’10 Most Powerful Women Authors’ list!  It makes sense.  I mean her books have made millions and add in the movies, that’s billions so calling her a successful author is an understatement. Yay Stephenie!

From Forbes:

 Stephenie Meyer

Sales: 100 million books sold
Clout: Film adaptations of her novels have achieved sales of nearly 2 billion dollars (so far).

Best-known for her vampire romance series Twilight, Stephenie Meyer has quickly become one of the best-selling women authors of all-time, gaining worldwide recognition with stories that tap into readers’ romantic dreams and explore themes of immortality and sacrifice.

You can see the full list HERE.

Stephenie was also chosen by Forbes as one of the  World’s Most Powerful Celebrities!  I question this list just a bit since Charlie Sheen is at #28 and Rob is #53, Kristen at #63and Stephenie Meyer is #90.  WTH?  A part of me thinks they took a few hundred celebrity names, threw them in a hat and picked out the first 100.  This list is really random.  I mean Charlie Sheen?  Come on!

Here’s what Stephenie Meyer had to say about the book, via a recent press release by publisher Little, Brown Books:

I’m always amazed at how many in-depth questions my readers have about my characters and the world within the Twilight Saga . . . With The Official Illustrated Guide, I hoped we could incorporate as many details as possible, including character histories, like Alice’s back story. I’m thrilled with the different artistic interpretations done by Young Kim and the other talented illustrators, including Bella’s wedding dress. I hope the fans feel it was worth the wait!

Stephenie Meyer Talks to USA Today!

The rest of the interview that Stephenie Meyer did with USA Today is up a little earlier than I expected!

Ten lucky Twilight fans from around the world have come together to meet with the author whose novels about a beautiful vampire and the human love of his “life” have kept us entertained since Twilight hit book stands in 2005.

Here are a few choice excerpts and then you can go HERE to read the rest.

On the illustrated guide: “My favorite part is the vampire histories. There’s a lot there that’s new. Alice’s (Cullen) back story is one no one has known until now. And I think fans will be surprised at how much fun (Cullen nemesis) Victoria’s story is.”

•On whether she’ll ever write more books about Edward and Bella: “The story’s already been told, and I doubt I’ll ever write another series based on the same characters.”

•On the possibility she’d ever finish Midnight Sun, a Twilight novel told from Edward’s viewpoint that she nixed when parts of it were leaked online in 2008: “I’m hoping to do it someday because I know that’s what people want. No matter what book I put out from here to eternity they’ll want Midnight Sun, but I’m just not writing about vampires right now.”

•On an as-yet-untitled book she might publish next: “It’s a fantasy that takes place in another world where people are using bows and arrows and swords. There’s a little bit of magic, but it’s a very limited form of magic. The characters are human, and some have the ability to use magic and some don’t. It’s pretty dark. People die. The main character is a 17-year-old girl, and she’s kind of cool.”

•On another book she might complete and publish: “When I was growing up, I was obsessed with mermaids. I do have a very elaborate outline for a book. I’m not working on it right now, but I have the feeling it’s going to be big. It’s going to be 1,000 pages.”

•On the second book in her three-book adult science-fiction series that began with The Host in 2008: “I have the outline written and the first two chapters. I need to get on it.”

What Meyer says about the filming of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, which because of the expansive story line is being told in two parts. (Part 1 is scheduled for release Nov. 18 and Part 2 in November 2012):

•The much-anticipated wedding of Edward and Bella has not been filmed yet, but Stewart is being fitted for the as-yet-unrevealed bridal gown. “It’s such an interesting mix,” says Meyer. “It has a vintage feel, but at the same time, there’s an edge to it. It’s really beautiful. And then on Kristen — oh, she looks amazing in clothes —and in that dress she’s so lithe and unbelievable.”

•On working with Pattinson and Lautner: “Rob is more like Jacob than Edward. He’s goofy, he’s funny, he doesn’t take much seriously. But he can turn Edward on like that (she snaps her fingers) when he needs to be Edward. Taylor’s who we hang out with most. He’s a lot like fun, happy Jacob.”

•On her expanded role as co-producer of the two new movies: “The big difference is just being there and seeing everything. I feel I’ve seen so much of the movie and really understand what it will look like. There are still a lot of compromises. That hasn’t changed. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but I have a producer credit, which is crazy.”

Stephenie Meyer talks to USA Today!

With the Twilight Saga quickly coming to an end, everyone is wondering what’s next for Stephenie Meyer.  She’s done an interview with USA Today which comes out tomorrow but here is a small excerpt from that interview where she talks about Bella’s transformation.

“She’s created a new character. I was really impressed,” says Meyer. “I’ve only really seen her as (the human) Bella so to have her step up and change it in the right way — she didn’t have to talk to me. She knew. She knows the character so well now. She has really good instincts and, she looks amazing.”

See the rest HERE.

Tomorrow she’s supposed to talk about the dress.  Here’s to hoping they don’t say too much or show a rendering of that damn thing!  Doesn’t anyone like surprises anymore?

With news out that the final fight scene has already been shot, I was starting to wonder what was left to film.  As it turns out, something pretty important is on the shooting agenda for April…..THE WEDDING SCENE!  From what I can gather, it will be shot early in April in Vancouver!  Makes me wonder what was going on in that tree lined park in Baton Rouge, not that I really want to know.  I love surprises!

The news was revealed by Gil Birmingham, who plays Billy Black, during a chat at at the Official Twilight Convention in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend.  I like Gil and look forward to seeing him at a convention next month!

I’m just excited to see the wedding dress!  I hope it isn’t leaked before the film comes out.  That feels almost impossible but how great would that be to see it for the first time in the theater?  I’m sure I’ll see all the movies again in some sort of a Twilight Saga all day event so it would be wonderful to be able to not know what the dress looks like before then.

Kristen Stewart talked to MTV News a few months back about the dress:

“To be honest, it’s such a big deal. It’s such a big decision. I have a little hand in having a decision — or having an opinion more — but I think it’s pretty much up to Stephenie,” Stewart said, referring to “Twilight” saga author Stephenie Meyer. “I’m not quite sure exactly what it’s going to look like, but it will be beautiful, I’m sure,” she added.

Peter arrived back in Vancouver this weekend after having to cancel all of his scheduled apperances over the weekend, including the Official Twilight Convention in Nashville.  He looked great (as always) and ready to get back to work!  I’m worried about his dark hair.  I feel a horrible Carlisle wig coming on……

Jackson canceled another appearance at a Twilight Convention, not that any of us thought he’d be there anyway.

It was reported yesterday that Rob and Kristen ignored fans while on their way to shoot at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver.  They apparently jumped from their van and went immediately into the theater door to film their scenes.  While I’m sure it stinks to wait hours for a sighting of someone and get nothing, they are filming so they’re working and are in that mindset.  Also, this is the same day that a guy dressed in a diaper and the worst boots I’ve ever seen tried to sneak into their hotel so maybe they are a little gun shy, I’m just sayin…..

Quick video of Adele (who I love) talking about Robert Pattinson. Kinda funny. I love that at first she doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

DON’T FORGET TO ENTER OUR TWILIGHT BLING CONTEST!  IT ENS THIS WEEKEND!!!!

Twilight Fans Get a Chance to Meet Stephenie Meyer!

Little Brown Books for Young Readers is hosting a very special International Fan Event. Ten lucky fans from around yhe globe will get a chance to have an intimate meeting with Stephenie Meyer where she will answer some of their Twilight related questions!  This event coincides with the April 12th release of The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide.

Little, Brown will be sponsoring a sweepstakes to select one fan from the US and another from Canada. The Twilight Saga publishers from Brazil, China, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Taiwan and the UK will also be participating. The selected fan from each country will receive an advance copy of The Official Illustrated Guide and get to talk extensively with Meyer.

Stephenie had this to say:

“The one thing I miss most about my first book tour was the chance I had then to spend quality time with my readers,” says Meyer in the release. “At an event with just 10 or 20 people, I was able to get to know everyone a little bit. I could also more effectively answer each person’s questions. I’m so excited to have that opportunity again, and to get to spend time with fans from many different places and backgrounds.”

This is pretty exciting news!  How great would it be to spend some time picking the brain of the woman who created out obsession?  I’d have a great time with that!

Go here to enter and for official rules.
