I was sent this blog post by a friend and I fell in love with it. As the mother of a two year old who refused to be anything but a princess for Halloween I can completely relate. I wanted her to be a witch but at some point you have to let your kids make some of their own decisions. I just didn’t realize that would start at two!
So, I dressed my little angel in the princess costume of her choosing but flat out refused to buy her the “glass slippers.” I gave in on the crown but we don’t do glass slippers up in here! For me, as a woman, glass slippers scream “I can’t do anything on my own and I need a man to do it for me” so I bought her an old pair of Chucks and glittered those puppies up. She loved them and walked effortlessly through the night collecting tons of candy she’ll never eat.
Kristen Stewart gets a bum rap, if for no other reason than because she’s awkward and refuses to fit into a fluffy category of Hollywood’s making. She also gets crap for who she dates and both things are absurd. As women we should take it easy on other women from time to time and celebrate our differences instead of holding them against one another. I love Kristen for her weirdness, which is literally the highest compliment I can give. I find it refreshing that she’s the anti Kim Kardashian. She’s young, beautiful and talented. I would think other women would find that liberating.

Tearing Down Those Who Are Different
“Bill Condon, the director of Breaking Dawn, said the following about Kristen Stewart in an interview. “She was pitched a female role in a comic-book superhero movie that’s about to get started – I won’t say which one – and she was like, ‘Well, screw that. I shouldn’t be the superhero’s girlfriend, I should be the superhero.’”
Too late, Kristen. You kind of already are.” ~ Kate Spencer
