My Big Fat Twilight Convention Post (Baltimore)

I’ve been to several Official Twilight Conventions.  This last one in Baltimore was the only two day convention I’d ever been to and it was different.  Not in a really bad way, but there were less vendors and it was smaller.  Just different.  It was a very small crowd.

I’ve learned to check the website for the convention daily and of course the day of because things can change at the last minute and I like to have realistic expectations.  So I knew before I got there that Booboo Stewart had canceled for Saturday and was only coming Sunday and that Twilight Lexicon had canceled.  Neither of these things were earth shattering for me but still, I like to know these things before I get there.  I saw a girl who was really upset about Booboo not being there on Saturday but in Creations defense, it was posted on the site.

Because I only live 20 minutes away, I didn’t get a room this time.  There was no need but I was meeting friends there and they were staying the night.  I waited for them in the lobby while they took their things up to their room and as I stood there Chaske walked past me.  I swear, I’m a fool for a man with long legs.  He’s like a work of art and very kind.  Love that guy!  Team Chaske!

The guests this weekend:

Chaske Spencer

Tinsel Korey

Booboo Stewart

Tyson Houseman

Kiowa Gordon

and….Peter Facinelli!

Everyone had a Q&A in the ballroom and it was pretty fun.  My favorites for the weekend were Peter (of course) Chaske and Tinsel.  Also, it was the first time I’d seen Booboo and I thought he was really sweet.  He even did a flip when someone asked him.  I knew very little about Booboo before this weekend and I was really impressed.  First of all, his mom was running his table and when I saw “table” what I really mean is “Team Booboo Land!”  His mother kicks ass because that was the best promo table I’ve ever seen.  His mother and both sisters were there and they seem like such a sweet supportive family.  Fival is beautiful and his youngest sister sat in front of me during Booboo‘s Q&A and kept turning around, pointing at my camera and saying “What is that thing?”

The also had a trailer for Booboo‘s next movie playing.  It’s called White Frog.  It’s the story of a boy with  Asperger syndrome. As a mother with a son who is being tested for Pervasive Developmental Disorder, this really hit home.  I think I watched the trailer five times and teared up every time.  Movies like that are hard to watch but the stories need to be told.  People know nothing about it unless they know someone who suffers from it.  I will see this movie and my respect for Booboo Stewart grew leaps and bounds with that trailer.  This is another reason his mother is a genius.  I may have never known about that film had it not been for that DVD player resting on a stack of shirts.

They had an auction and people bought those banners behind Booboo and others:

Tyson  and Tinsel were both earlier on Saturday and I don’t think I’d ever seen either of them before.  They were a lot of fun and Tinsel did a dance with several members that she hand picked from the crowd.  I took a few photos.  Look how much fun those girls are having!

They also had a Yes & No Twilight Trivia.  I wasn’t paying 100% close attention but I think the same girl may have won all three rounds!

The Hillywood Show are still hosting the conventions but it’s now Hannah and Hillary without the guys.  I’m kinda bummed by that because I thought it was fun with the guys but I have loved the girls since I interviewed them for this site several months back.  It was a two part interview and you can see that HERE and HERE!  You can also visit their website where they have lots of cool t-shirts by going HERE!

I bought my daughter a Hillybomb shirt but they were out of the smallest size so they’re going to send it to me.  My daughter is only 2 so it will be a dress on her but that’s the intent.  I love making cool t-shirts into dresses for her.  She totally rocks them!

I bought a Team Hillywood shirt from them at one of the last conventions and I tooka  photo of my daughter wearing it.  I took a copy with me this time and asked the girls to sign it.  They kindly obliged. Once I find a frame worthy of it I plan to hang it in her room.

They’ve done greatTwilight Saga parodies but this is their most recent called Harry Potter Friday Parody.  Watch it.  It’s really good!  Go….HERE!

I ran into some really nice people with some great Twilight items.   I’m terrible with names so I hope they come here and comment but check these things out!

I asked this girl about her awesome Twilight jeans!  I asked if she’d made them herself.  I thought it was a fair question and not because I thought they looked like someone worked on them in their dark basement but because you don’t see something like that everyday.  I Googled “Twilight jeans” when I got home and I did find some but none that were made this well.  They’re really very neat in  person and very detailed.  I was impressed and she told me she won them online!  I would totally wear these!  I wonder if they come in capris.

I also ran into this girl, well, I didn’t think to take a photo of her but she did give me a card.

She makes great Twilight inspired (and other) hair bows.  Her beautiful daughter was sportin’ a couple and as I have a beautiful blond daughter myself, I noticed them immediately.  I asked if I could take a couple of photos to post and that poor girl was not interested AT ALL!  I think she just wanted to eat.  I know how my daughter can be sometimes when I torment her with photos so I took a few while she ate.  She humored me.  Take a look at these hairbows and if you’re interested you can contact her via her  Esty site…HERE!

There weren’t as many people there with it being a two day convention and I’ll be honest, I thought that was kind of nice.  I mean there are always the crazies who will knock you over for a $2 Team Jacob bracelet but there was a lot less of that this time.  Twilight Mom’s were there again and I bought a few things from their table.

There were other vendors who sold all kids of t-shirts, photos, umbrellas and lots of stuff you’ve seen around.  They did have the new Breaking Dawn character photos of everyone.  That was nice to see.  Seeing Carlisle that big and in HD was frightening, but hearing Peter Facinelli talk about how bad the wig was made me giggle.

Peter was on Sunday and I tell ya, if that boy can’t win you over, you must be made of stone.  He’s like a big ole’ piece of eyeball candy rolled up into a tight but squishy ball.  I think I could sit and listen to him speak all day.  Total sweetness and something to say….that’s hot.

From where I was sitting and in my photos as well, doesn’t it kinda look like he has horns?

Chaske and Tinsel did a Q&A together which was pretty fun.  Lots of back and forth banter and a “Sorry Leah” from Tinsel that was pretty funny.

The last thing I did on Sunday was get a photo with Peter and the Wolfpack!  It was fun, kinda like a big Twilight sandwich!

…then my friends and I waited around for three hours for them to be printed.  Too many people waiting for the same thing.  I’m glad I waited though because I didn’t want to have to wait weeks or possibly months to get my photo.

If you haven’t been to an Official Twilight Convention,  I think you should.  First off, Breaking Dawn is coming out next month so if you don’t go now, you might miss your chance.  These things won’t last forever and they really are fun.  There are always annoyances at these things but that is to be expected when you get this many people in one place but if you love Twilight, you’ll love these conventions.  Also, if you’re of the “Crazy Twilight” persuasion, you’ll meet other crazies!

This is my post from the last Official Twilight Convention I attended.  It seems like forever ago but  you can see that HERE!

All photos are my own except the Official Twilight Convention banner and Hillybomb t-shirt photo
