Our movie sites tour w/ Pics

My mom and I just got back from a fun 4 day/3night movie site tour. We live in Long Beach, WA just an hour drive north of where they filmed the La Push scenes in Twilight. So, that’s where we started, Indian Beach. We had a blast!!! Almost everyone we talked to were excited to see Twilight fans and many were fans themselves. Here are just a few of our notes and pictures…

CANON BEACH, OR
Indian Beach (site of La Push Beach)
We were lucky enough to get a warm, sunny morning at the beach, even in the Winter. We walked the area they filmed in, took pictures, watched a surfer or two and just enjoyed the gorgeous scenery.

Maybe too sunny sometimes

ST. HELENS, OR
So much for the sunny day. From St Helens on, the next three days our trip was pretty much all fog, but we still had a GREAT time.

Swan House (just like it looks in the movie)
Swan House

Angel Hair Salon (site of Petite Jolie, the dress shop)
Brittney Bradford, owner of Angel Hair Salon, was an extra in two scenes. She’s so nice and is very welcoming to Twilight fans. She had Catherine Hardwicke’s director’s chair in her front window. She was busy cutting a client’s hair but said “Take a look around, feel free to move the chair around and take lots of pictures.”
Petite Jolie

Jilly’s (not in the movie, cast and crew shopped there)
Jilly’s is where the set designer bought the prom dresses and a few other things. Jilly is awesome! She had all kinds of fun stories and a ton of cool merchandise. The cast and crew also shopped for personal items there. Mom bought a set of purple fairy wings, just like the ones used in the dress shop window, and I got a skirt. We found a few things we couldn’t live without and are planning a trip back for more shopping.

Plantation Pizza (not in the movie, good food)

VANCOUVER, WA
We started out the day with some local shopping. Our hotel was near the mall, my old stompin’ grounds, and they were having sales that we couldn’t pass up. Then on to Twilight!

Kadow’s Caterpillar Island Marina (boat docks where Waylon is killed)
Kadow's

KALAMA, WA

Kalama High/Jr/Middle Schools (many school scenes- parking lot, where Edward follows Bella into forest, covered walkway scenes, etc.)
School

Poker Pete’s Pizza (not in movie, supplied lots of pizzas to cast and crew while filming)

After the sun went down we went back to Vancouver and Portland and did some more shopping.
— end of day 2 —

CARVER, OR

Carver Cafe (site of cafe where Bella and Charlie eat)
I could write a whole post just on our lunch at Carver Cafe. It was so busy that we offered to share our table. Some of the highlights: The owners, Kris and Sarah, were so nice and had a ton of stories to share. Sarah was an extra in a few scenes and Alice’s double once. The cook from the movie is the same cook that actually made our food — GREAT food, btw. The local guys we shared our table with told us all kinds of stories about the area, the movie and the owners. We got all kinds of tips on other sites in the area.
This place was so busy!

Kris and Sarah, the coolest chicks ever!

Bella’s table (We sat right next to Bella’s table. People would sit down before it was even clean. Mom finally just took a picture of it as they cleaned it. lol!)
Bella's Table

Carver Marina (the base camp while filming in Carver)

The Stone Cliff Inn (site of the mossy rocks that Edward leans Bella against)
We couldn’t get to the back side of the property where we were told they filmed at– it was blocked by caution tape. We saw lots of other similar mossy rock formations, but not the right one.

COLUMBIA GORGE

Oxbow Park (the site of the “Say it out loud” scene)
Say it out loud

The View Point Inn (site of the prom scene)
We were getting pretty tired and were running out of daylight by the time we reached the Viewpoint Inn. It was such a charming place and the view was breathtaking! We took a few pictures, walked around the grounds and bought a brick for the Twilight walk of fame. It will say “Kathy & Jess Love Bella & Edward”.
They had a fire in Dec. and buying a brick will help them restore it. Buy yours here

Multnomah Falls
Again, we were pretty tired and running out of daylight. We snapped some photos of the falls but didn’t hike up to the bridge, where Bella and Edward were. We did however have a great talk with a volunteer at the the information booth and the park ranger. They told us that they did some filming out in front of the building with green screens. We suspect that this is the front of the building and parking lot at the prom. (Bree has similar suspicions. We need to check into it more.)

Bridge of the Gods (the bridge Charlie drives over at the beginning of the movie)
Mom had been going here since she was a kid and knew the perfect spot to take a picture. We plan to go back and get better pictures in April and hopefully make it to the Washington side of the Gorge.

That was not the end of our list, but it was the end of our trip. Some of the things we missed but plan to get back to: Baseball field, Cullen house, The Shire, Beacon Rock, Cape Horn, Silver Falls Park, Vernonia, the paper mill, the greenhouse, Madison HS, Longview HS, St Helens HS and Corbette Elementary.
